Gaming veteran Peter Ekmark will be named CEO of PlayStar, replacing Per Hellberg.

Hellberg is leaving the position after two and a half years as CEO of PlayStar.

Ekmark has been a member of the PlayStar Board of Directors since September 2022; its New Jersey operations have attracted major investment from Glitnor Group.

In addition to his business knowledge and experience with PlayStar, Ekmark has been working in the gaming industry since 2007, where he began product and business development at Maria Bingo until 2010.

After working at Maria Bingo, Ekmark moved to Kindred Group, where he worked in the strategic business development and project management department from 2008 to 2012. Ekmark then became head of product operations from 2012 to 2015.

Since Kindred, Ekmark has served in various leadership and executive positions at Jackpotjoy Group, Harvest Technology and Internet Vikings before landing a position as a board member at PlayStar. Ekmark currently also serves on the Internet Vikings board as of 2022.

Ekmark himself said: “I am incredibly pleased to take on the role of CEO of PlayStar and would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Per Hellberg for the amazing foundation he has laid for the company in New Jersey and the United States. All in all.

“Having already seen incredible growth in our first year of operation, I am confident that we as a team will be able to leverage my extensive iGaming and business management experience to help PlayStar strengthen its position in New Jersey as well as expand into other regulated states. »
