In 2023, Wynn Resorts, a major operator in the gambling, hospitality and entertainment industries, began construction on its massive project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Wynn Al Marjan. The company has recently reached a major milestone by receiving the first commercial gambling license in the jurisdiction.
Wynn received the license after a thorough due diligence
The license was issued by the General Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), which has the exclusive right to regulate, license and supervise gambling activities in the UAE. According to Khaleej Times, GCGRA granted the casino operator its first commercial license on Saturday.
The licensing process is a complex procedure that involves fulfilling various requirements. To obtain this license, Wynn underwent a detailed review of its operations and project. The company’s success in this matter is of great importance, as the license is a key element for the development of the project on Al Marjan Island.
This integrated resort will be the first such project in the territory of the Middle East and North Africa. In addition to hotel, entertainment and retail facilities, the Wynn Al Marjan resort will also include a gaming zone. Construction is expected to be completed and the resort will open in 2027.
The company expresses gratitude for the trust
With the receipt of the first commercial gambling license, Wynn has taken an important step in the implementation of the Wynn Al Marjan project. Although this is the first commercial gambling license, earlier in July, GCGRA issued the first lottery license to The Game LLC from Abu Dhabi.
In an official statement, Wynn Resorts expressed gratitude to the regulator for the trust placed in it and emphasized that it is proud to be the first holder of a commercial gambling license in the UAE. The company also confirmed that construction of the resort on Al Marjan Island is ongoing and stated its commitment to helping develop the region's tourism sector.
Wynn formed a joint venture with its project partners to operate in the region. The joint venture was licensed to comply with all local regulations.
