Transfer of Powers: Dudena Heads the Secretariat for Prizes and Rates

Regis Dudena was recently appointed head of the prizes and betting secretariat in Brazil. This decision was officially announced in the official gazette of the Union of Brazil, signed by the government's chief of staff, Rui Costa.

New Head: Key Roles and Responsibilities

The Secretariat for Prizes and Wagering (SPA) will be the key Treasury body responsible for organizing regulation and developing the future framework for gambling. Dudena, with extensive experience in the field of regulatory law, will take on this responsible role.

Previously, Regis Dudena worked in the field of regulatory and public law, and also held senior positions in law firms and associations. His collaboration with the Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Treasury, Dario Durigan, adds to his confidence in his new role.

Stages of Regulation: The Path to Transformation

Brazil is on track to regulate gambling, starting with the signing of Bill 3626/2023 by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The new rules, published by the SPA and the Ministry of Finance in Regulatory Decree No. 615, impose strict measures, including a ban on accepting bets using credit cards or cryptocurrency.

Role of the Ministry of Finance: Advertising and Promotion

In the new 2024 Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) competition regulations, the Ministry of Finance sets advertising rules, prohibiting illegal operators from exclusively advertising, as well as mandating compliance with ethical and safety standards in gambling marketing.

Optimistic Predictions: The Future of Regulation

With the introduction of new rules and strengthened legislation, Brazil is committed to creating a balanced and safe gaming environment for its citizens. Regis Dudena and his team will play a key role in this process, ensuring that the rules and interests of all stakeholders are respected.
