Future plansOn Wednesday, May 1, 2024, officials in Beloit, Wisconsin announced that construction on the new Ho-Chunk Nation Casino will begin in the fall of 2024 and will be completed in 2026, subject to successful project progress.
Ho-Chunk Casino: More Than Just Slot MachinesIn addition to the casino, which is estimated to cost $405 million, the complex will include an 18-story hotel and conference center. The hotel will offer more than 300 rooms, as well as a variety of recreational and dining options, including restaurants. The site will be conveniently located between Willowbrook Road and Interstate 39-90.
Gaming Features and MoreThe casino will offer between 1,500 and 1,800 slot machines and 44 table games, including blackjack and roulette tables. Colleen Price, communications manager for the Ho-Chunk Nation, emphasizes the complex's versatility, including concerts, exhibits and conventions.
Official Approval and BenefitsThe project received approval from the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs in 2020 and the state government in 2021. It will bring about 1,500 jobs to the city and accelerate economic development. In addition, the construction will provide employment to another 3,000 people.
Infrastructure ImprovementsAs part of the project, Beloit will receive $13 million in federal funds to improve roads and general infrastructure near the casino. This includes new bike and pedestrian lanes, traffic lights and other improvements.
Competition in the gambling industry is growing, but Ho-Chunk Nation is confident in the uniqueness of its offer. The city hopes to attract tourists and strengthen its position as an attractive entertainment destination.
