Congressman Paul Tonko of New York is preparing legislation aimed at regulating advertising and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in sports betting. This legislation, aimed at creating national standards, is intended to eliminate the possible negative consequences associated with the legalization of sports gambling.
Federal supervision of sports bettingSubtly expressed the importance of federal regulation of sports betting at an event in Saratoga Springs. He stressed that the bill is almost ready and includes clear guidelines on advertising, accessibility checks and the use of AI. The purpose of the bill is to protect risky gamblers while maintaining freedom of gambling.
Regulation of sports betting advertisingOne of the main problems that the bill solves is the control of false advertising aimed at attracting players to bet. The law prohibits the use of techniques such as "bonus bets" to prevent reckless gambling. Advertising of sports betting during live sports events is also prohibited from 8:00 to 22:00.
Limiting the availability and use of AIThe bill also limits the availability of sports gambling by setting limits on the number of deposits within 24 hours and requirements for proof of financial ability before large bets. It also prohibits the use of AI to track and tailor advertising and create systems based on real-world pricing.
Establishing common standardsThe purpose of the Safe Betting Act is to establish a uniform federal standard in all states where sports betting is legal. This will provide a safer and more predictable gambling environment across the country, while protecting the interests of players and respecting responsible gaming regulations.
