UK National Lottery operator Allwyn has announced its partnership with Race for Peace for the second year in a row. This important event in cycling, aimed at promoting peace and cooperation, is part of the Nations Cup and is open to riders under 23 years of age.
History of the Race for Peace
Founded in 1948, the Race for Peace was conceived as a means to promote peaceful cooperation in Central Europe after the end of World War II. This cycling tour has become a significant event showcasing the future stars of cycling.
Current race season
The 2024 World Race will take place from May 30 to June 2 in the Czech Republic and will attract 22 national teams, including Austria, Colombia, France, Great Britain, Germany, Mexico and Ukraine. Participants will cover a distance of 468 kilometers with a total elevation gain of 7981 meters.
Allwyn's role in the partnership
As general partner, Allwyn will leverage its international reach and resources to promote the tour around the world. The company is committed to highlighting the importance of inclusivity and unity in sport. Pavel Turek, Director of Global Brand, Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility at Allwyn, noted:
"It's not just about the race, but the future it represents. The Race for Peace is the launching pad for the highest level of international cycling, demonstrating the transformative power of sport to change lives for the better. Allwyn's ongoing partnership with Race for Peace underscores our commitment to promoting unity and inclusion and helping build a platform of goodwill, cooperation and victory for all. We are pleased to continue this legacy."
Meaning of "Race for Peace"
Leopold König, director of the Race for Peace, added:
“Every year we see talented young athletes compete here, but the Peace Race is more than just a competition. It is about a cultural exchange between countries, where cyclists from different backgrounds and political systems come together to forge friendships that go beyond borders. We hope that many spectators will come to see the best young cyclists in the world, and we promise that they will have a fantastic experience this year, we have prepared a challenging course, and I personally can’t wait to see the future stars of international cycling.”
Other Allwyn initiatives
Last month, Allwyn also supported the Wings for Life World Run 2024 charity event as a global partner. This initiative is part of the company's overall strategy to support sports and promote philanthropy internationally.
This marks the second year in a row that Allwyn's partnership with the Race for Peace demonstrates the company's commitment to promoting sport, cultural exchange and promoting peace through sporting events.
