First cross-channel tournament

Mecca Bingo in Luton, Bedfordshire hosted its first cross-channel slots tournament, bringing together players from both the online community and retail stores. The event, sponsored by Blueprint Gaming, attracted participants from all over the country.

Tournament process and participants

The tournament began with a series of qualifying rounds, leading to 16 finalists qualifying for the grand final. Eight online players and eight retail players met in the final. They competed for a £25,000 ($31,905) prize fund, with the winner taking home the £10,000 grand prize.

The winner and his impressions

The £10,000 grand prize winner was Andrew Thorpe, who said: “The whole night was surreal, I expected to be eliminated in the first round as I'm not usually that lucky! Just getting to the final was amazing.”

Comments from organizers and sponsors

Robert Lee, CEO of Meccabingo.com said: “It was great to see players from all over the country come together to experience the joy of what Mecca has to offer. A special thanks to our tournament sponsors, Blueprint Gaming, and of course a huge congratulations to our slot champion Andrew. We look forward to hosting our next tournament very soon.”

Jack Lawson, Account Manager at Blueprint Gaming, added: “It was a pleasure to be involved and sponsor the Mecca Bingo Slots Tournament 2024 in Luton. We look forward to showcasing more of our product portfolio at future events.”

New Mecca Bingo Initiatives

The Slots Tournament is just one of many new events introduced by Mecca Bingo this year. In January, the company launched Spingo, a unique combination of spin classes and bingo, at its retail locations. The operator began offering free dance lessons in April, sparking interest in the 'Cowboy Core' trend in the UK.

Digital initiatives and partnerships

Earlier this month, Mecca Bingo also partnered with ITV to create digital scratch cards based on popular morning talk show Loose Women. In the June issue of Trafficology magazine, Mecca Bingo's head of PR and social media, Mark Chivers, talks about the brand's celebrity partnerships and managing influencer marketing.

The first cross-channel Mecca Bingo slot tournament was a successful event, bringing together players from different parts of the country and different platforms. This event, as well as the company's other innovative initiatives, underscores Mecca Bingo's commitment to providing new and exciting opportunities for its customers.
