Parag Agrawal has been appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Fanatics Holdings.

In this newly created position, Agrawal will oversee the transformation of the company's internal digital system in the areas of accounting, financial planning and analysis, and human resources.

In such a tech role, Agrawal's appointment could be important for Fanatics' fledgling gaming division, especially after his recent PointsBet US takeover deal.

PointsBet Group CEO Sam Swanell initially agreed to sell PointsBet's US business to Fanatics for $150 million before PointsBet's board of directors later agreed to accept Fanatics' improved $225 million offer. Fanatics raised the price in response to a belated bid from DraftKings.

Agrawal will create a dedicated IT infrastructure for the company's corporate division and will collaborate with other businesses to further improve global IT capabilities across the Fanatics enterprise.

He will report to Glenn H. Schiffman, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Fanatics.

Schiffman said, “Parag is the perfect fit to join. His experience and knowledge is exactly what we need so that we can not only improve our current systems, but also continue to implement solutions in the future. I am very happy to welcome him to the team."

Agrawal worked nine years with Chobani before joining Fanatics where he held various positions with increasing levels of responsibility, most recently as Chief Information Officer.

In addition, he has worked for Avon, American Promotions Events, PFSweb, Inc., Metamor Global Solutions, and Materne North America, the company behind GoGo squeeZ products.

Agrawal said: “The Fanatics have done an incredible job updating the fan and partner experience. I am excited to bring that same energy and mindset to our internal systems and platforms.

"I look forward to working with Glenn and the team to provide the experience that will allow us to grow and succeed together as a global organization."
