A recent panel discussion at the SiGMA Manila 2024 event touched on a hot topic - the role of women in the gambling industry. Led by Rohanna Jamir of HCM Nexus, SiGMA 2024 discussed the prospects of women in what is often a male-dominated industry.

Experts with Experience

Notable panelists included Ellen Freud, CEO of SmartRecruitment.com, an online gaming recruiting company; Krystal Nadal, Head of Sales for YOLO Group in Asia; and Wong Wei Xi, Head of Sales for Group-IB in the Asia-Pacific region.

Since all three are in leadership positions, various aspects were discussed during the discussion. Topics were raised about cybersecurity, the use of artificial intelligence in recruiting, as well as general questions about how women can more easily achieve success in the gaming and gambling industry.

All participants actively advocated for inclusion and equal opportunities for women. They called for hiring candidates regardless of their gender, creating an inclusive environment for women and encouraging them to take up leadership positions.

Growing Women's Presence

According to Roanna Jamir, statistics show a 22% increase in the number of women in the gaming industry, and in the US this figure reaches 45%. Panelists confirmed this trend, citing examples of companies where women make up a significant portion of the leadership team.

This significant increase in the presence of women in the games industry is a positive sign both for the industry itself and for women pursuing a career in the sector.
