This week, the long-awaited closure of the Mirage Hotel & Casino, one of the iconic properties on the Las Vegas Strip, becomes a reality. Today the hotel officially ceases operations, marking the beginning of a major transformation. The Mirage will be rebranded and renovated as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas. The closure is part of Hard Rock International's major renovation and rebranding plan, which includes creating a guitar-shaped hotel that will be nearly 700 feet long.
Exclusive offers from Treasure Island
In conjunction with this transition, Treasure Island Hotel & Casino has decided to offer special offers to former Mirage guests and casino customers. These offers include up to 35% off your stay, a 2-for-1 cocktail voucher upon check-in, a $50 pool cabana credit (valid Monday through Thursday April through October), and $30 free play at slots or $30 in match play for those who sign up for the Treasury Rewards Club. Additionally, Treasure Island provides exclusive offers to all Mirage Casino guests who submit their Players Club offer.
Description of Treasure Island
Treasure Island, located on the Las Vegas Strip, is famous for its Cirque du Soleil Mystère show. The hotel has approximately 3,000 guest rooms and offers a variety of restaurants, nightlife and shopping options, making it an attractive destination for visitors.
Hard Rock International, which announced its plans in May 2024, will begin transforming the Mirage immediately upon its closure on July 17, 2024. This transition is expected to have a significant impact on the local labor market, doubling the number of jobs currently available at Mirage and creating more than 2,500 construction jobs. Hard Rock will also provide about $80 million in severance pay for employees who remain until the closure.
Refunds of reservations and tickets
Guests with reservations or show tickets after July 14, 2024 will receive an automatic refund. Those who have booked through third party suppliers or online travel agencies are advised to contact them directly for re-booking or a refund.
Hard Rock International acquired the Mirage from MGM in 2022 for $1.07 billion. Plans for a rebranding and renovation were known at the time of the acquisition, signaling a new direction for the property. As Mirage prepares for its transformation, Treasure Island is expanding its offerings to ensure continuity of service for guests impacted by the closure.
