President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has officially responded to a petition created in support of the lifting of sanctions against Parimatch.

Earlier this year, on March 11, Parimatch suspended all B2C operations in the country of Ukraine following a government investigation.

After the sanctions against Parimatch, Zelensky said: “These are more than 280 companies and 120 people who worked against Ukraine through gambling schemes, withdrew funds from our state and financed various Russian schemes.

“The preparation of the decision took some time. It is thoroughly worked out and closes schemes for tens of billions. And this is not the last such decision.

By Kuropyatnik Irina Viktorovna, the "Release Sanctions on Parimatch" petition was created in June to try to lift a 50-year ban on Parimatch, which has since garnered over 25,000 signatures.

In this form, it was handed over to Zelensky, who officially responded on the official page of the petition on the government website.

In response, Zelensky said: “I thank everyone who joined this petition for their active citizenship.

“According to the second part of Article 19 of the Constitution of Ukraine, state authorities and local self-government bodies, their officials are obliged to act only on the grounds, within the limits of authority and in the manner provided for by the Constitution. and laws of Ukraine.

After explaining the specific laws, he continued: “In view of the above, I addressed the Prime Minister of Ukraine D. Shmyhal with a proposal to carefully study the issue raised in the text of the appeal and, if there are grounds, take the necessary response measures.

“The author of the electronic petition will be informed about the relevant results by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.”
