Espen Jorstad, last year's World Champion, took home the $40,000 Mystery Bounty tournament at the Triton Poker London Series, which is hosting 133 entries.

Along the way, the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event winner took down some tough competitors, including heads-up opponent Phil Ivey. The Norwegian poker pro took home $639,000 plus the bounties he opened on Monday. It was his first live tournament win since last year's WSOP Main Event.

World Series of Poker champion wins in Triton

Three poker legends took part in the Mystery Bounty tournament - Jorstad, Ivey and Stephen Chidwick. It's hard to find a more stellar final three in any tournament. After his victory, the 2022 world champion said: "Three-of-a-kind was the craziest three-way game I've ever played."

During this three-player game, the game went back and forth, with all three players going from short stack to big stack several times. Jorstad eventually sent the short stacked Chidwick home to third place ($287,000), setting up a heads-up matchup against arguably the best poker player of all time.

When the game started, Ivey had a fairly significant heads-up lead, but no player had more than 28 big blinds. Jorstad quickly took the lead and then in the final hand he went all-in with K♦ J♠ against K♥ 2♥
preflop The best hand held up, giving Jorstad his first Triton title but depriving Ivey of his fifth title.

“Playing one-on-one with Ivey, the game's greatest legend, in my opinion, makes it even more special,” Jorstad said in his post-match interview. the last three years. This is madness."

Despite failing to take first place, the Poker Hall of Famer received $434,000 in consolation prizes and, according to Hendon Mob, now has over $39 million in live tournament cashes. Jorstad, on the other hand, topped $11.5 million in cash, easily making him Norway's all-time leader (Felix Vincent Stephensen comes in second with $5.8 million).

Both players still have the option to add to their points. On Monday, Mystery Envelopes will be raffled off with a $400,000 grand prize to be awarded to one lucky winner. Triton London also kicked off an 8-player $50,000 no-limit hold'em tournament on Sunday. There were 112 players registered on Day 1, 42 of which made it to Day 2. Ignacio Morón Chavero had the chip lead, but he has one more big blind than Leon Sturm, the 2023 WSOP bracelet winner.
