Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) subsidiary iGaming Ontario has named Heidi Reinhart as its new chairman.

Prior to her appointment, Reinhart served as Vice Chair of AGCO from October 2020.

She is also a partner in Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, where she has practiced corporate law since September 2006.

While there, Reinhart also became a member of the Securities Advisory Committee (SAC) of the Ontario Securities Commission and the Listing Advisory Committee of the Toronto Stock Exchange.

She has also served on the board of the non-profit Volunteer Toronto and has herself volunteered with the Kitchener Humane Society of Waterloo, the Hospital for Sick Children, and as a social worker and group counselor with Community Legal Aid in Windsor.

She is a former member of the Ontario Council for Commercial Law Modernization and Burden Reduction.

Reinhart will succeed Dave Forestell, the first chairman of iGaming Ontario, who took over in July 2021.

Forestell has overseen all of Ontario's iGaming operations, especially during a busy period following the passage of the first Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Bill C-218, which was passed on June 22, 2021 and allowed sports betting in select games in Ontario.

Then legal sports betting was launched on April 4, 2022 with an initial number of 13 bookmakers including bet365, 888 and Unibet.

After leaving the Ontario iGaming Council, Forestell agreed to become chairman of the Ontario Commission on Alcohol and Gambling.

In the announcement, the company said, "iGaming Ontario welcomes Ms. Reinhart and extends its sincere thanks to Mr. Forestell for his leadership of this agency since its inception."

Last month, AGCO issued CA$70,000 ($51,717) fines to operators in Canada for alleged violations of registrar standards for iGaming.
