A Pinellas County, Florida man won $1 million after purchasing a winning ticket in a scratcher game. He took home nearly $650,000 after choosing the lump sum option.

One of 28 $1 million prizes went to a Florida player

Charles Kelly Jr., 53, became the lucky winner of the big prize thanks to a Gold Rush Doubler ticket he purchased at Wildwood Meat Market on South 28th Street in St. Petersburg.

A ticket to play this game costs only $5, but it offers a chance to win some big cash prizes. According to lottery representatives, the odds of winning are 1 in 3.98.

In total, the Gold Rush Doubler game includes more than 13 million winning tickets and a total prize pool of $188 million. The maximum win is $1 million, and there are only 28 such tickets in the game.

After visiting the lottery headquarters in Tallahassee, Kelly decided to collect the prize in the form of a lump sum payment, which amounted to $650,000. The store that sold the winning ticket received a bonus of $2,000 for the sale.

The Florida Lottery also noted the importance of scratch games in funding educational programs in the state, emphasizing that to date, such games have raised almost $19 billion for education.

Arizona player wins $1 million in Mega Millions

A few days ago, lottery representatives reported that a ticket purchased in southern Arizona brought its owner $1 million. The prize was won in a drawing on Tuesday. For reference, the winning numbers for that drawing were 5, 20, 26, 49, and 51, with the Mega Ball number being 24.

According to the Arizona Lottery, the ticket was sold at a Chevron gas station in San Luis.

Meanwhile, North Carolina resident Maurice Young turned $50 into $1 million by purchasing a ticket for the popular $10 Million Spectacular. He won one of the largest prizes in the game.

In Michigan, another player finally received his $260,000 win after months of thinking it was a scam. The drawing took place on February 14, 2024.

At the same time, an Australian woman won a huge jackpot of 100 million Australian dollars while participating in the Powerball lottery, which became a truly life-changing event for her.
