Three men suspected of participating in an armed robbery at an illegal gambling establishment in Dallas, Texas, have been investigated and charged. The third suspect, believed to be the shooter, was the last to be arrested.
A 20-year-old man identified only as D.G. was arrested Wednesday by the North Texas Marshals Task Force. Two other suspects in the crime were arrested earlier this month: a 42-year-old man identified only as E.S. and a 58-year-old man identified only as V.S.
The arrests of all three men followed an extensive law enforcement investigation. Local news outlet Fox 4 released video provided by police to help identify the suspects. Thanks to the media and the special program "Trackdown", all three suspects in the robbery that took place in July were arrested.
Each of the arrested men is charged with aggravated murder, which is a very serious crime in Texas. They are being held in the Dallas County Jail.
Aggravated murder is a crime that may have additional aggravating circumstances, such as committing the murder at the same time as another serious crime, killing multiple people, or special circumstances, such as killing a law enforcement officer. In Texas, this crime can be punishable by life in prison without parole, and in some cases, even the death penalty.
One of the victims was shot, the other survived
The deadly robbery took place on the evening of July 24. Police responded to the scene on East Ledbetter Drive after a report of shots fired.
When they arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds. One of them, a 40-year-old man with the initials E.N., died from his injuries at the scene. The second victim was in stable condition and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to the Dallas Morning News, citing information from the police, the crime scene operated as an illegal gambling establishment. Law enforcement agencies reported that two men entered the premises and demanded money and personal items from people inside.
After a short fight, several shots were fired, one of which fatally wounded a 40-year-old man. After the attack, the attackers left the crime scene.
The role of the third suspect in this crime remains unclear.
