The Macau Gaming Center released its July 2023 earnings report showing that the region's gross gaming revenue (GGR) was MOP 16.66 billion ($2.07 billion).
This figure represents a 10% month-on-month increase from June 2023 and a whopping 4086% increase from July 2023. In addition, for the current year, Macau's figures are 236% higher than in 2022, which is MOP 96.80.
“Macau's passenger figure of 16.66 is a lot more than the $1.25 billion posted by Nevada in June. The numbers not only represent a significant year-on-year increase, but also reflect Macau's recovery as it frees itself from China's coronavirus policy.
MOP 16.66 billion is the highest since the start of the pandemic, although it is still down from MOP 24.45 billion in July 2019, meaning Macau still has some way to go before it will be possible to announce a full recovery.
Of course, there's a chance that Macau will never fully recover from the impact of Covid, as other places in Asia have taken over much of the business the region has relied on, and Singapore and the Philippines are responsible for capturing many of the VIPs who are used to playing (almost ) exclusively in Macau. The drop in junkets and VIP stakes are also two important factors.
The data below details the figures from Macau's July 2021 data.

Comparing Macau's July data with Nevada's June data, the figures show Macau's MOP of 16.66 is much higher than the $1.25 billion published by Nevada. Also, while Nevada's numbers show a 2% annual decline, Macau, by contrast, is only growing, albeit with a higher base that it is trying to reach again.
