Washington Commanders vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Week 1 Prediction and Odds

The 2024 season will be a big one for the Washington Commanders. The team has a new head coach in Dan Quinn, who replaces Ron Rivera. Quinn previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys and before that spent five years as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

Quinn brought in Joe Whitt Jr., the former Cowboys defensive coach, to take over as the Commanders’ defensive coordinator. There have also been significant changes on offense, with Kliff Kingsbury, the former Arizona Cardinals head coach who coached the USC Trojans last season, taking over as the new offensive coordinator.

In addition to the coaching changes, the Commanders have also beefed up their offense on the field. They have selected 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jaden Daniels, the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, as their new quarterback. They have also added a number of promising newcomers and veterans, including six-time Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner and three-time Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz.

The question is how quickly these new players will adapt to the team. We’ll find out in the first game of the season.

The NFC South remains one of the weakest divisions in the NFL in 2024, allowing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to hold on to the division title despite not being a powerhouse.

Coach Todd Bowles continues to lead the team, with receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin standing out as key players. However, quarterback Baker Mayfield is a question mark. While he is not a weak link, he is not an elite player. Evans and Godwin would likely be more impressive if the Buccaneers had a different quarterback.

Their ground game is also not particularly fearsome, while their defense looks like the team’s strongest point.

We expect the Washington Commanders to have a good season, although they may struggle in the first match. However, we have confidence that they will start the season with a win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
