Eleven lottery operators have joined forces to form the Social and Promotional Gaming Association (SPGA), which will support innovation and protect the interests of players in the social gaming industry.

The association aims to develop and protect

The SPGA, according to an official statement, is focused on educating stakeholders and promoting the responsible operation of social and promotional games, often referred to as social lotteries. The association believes that these games are an integral part of digital entertainment and are popular with millions of Americans.

The operators' goal is to combine innovation and social gaming, offering players an engaging gaming experience, not just the opportunity for material gain. The SPGA intends to focus on protecting players from the risks associated with excessive gaming. By bringing together several companies, the organization represents a "unified voice" for fairness and responsibility in social and promotional gaming.

FSG Digital CEO Seth Schorr, one of the members of the SPGA, noted that the creation of this association is an important step towards creating a unified and consistent voice for the social lottery industry.

“By creating this association, we aim to help regulators and legislators better understand our products and ensure that they comply with state and federal laws,” Schorr said.

Lottery Games Are Controversial

The announcement of the SPGA comes shortly after Novig entered the US market. Novig, which is focused on providing customers with innovative gaming experiences, has already launched in 42 states and the District of Columbia, offering players new forms of entertainment.

However, the lottery gaming sector continues to be under scrutiny, with many believing it to be under-regulated. The American Gaming Association recently expressed doubts about the legality of such games, calling for more scrutiny.

Lotteries are generally not considered gambling and therefore are not subject to strict regulation, but they do share some features with gambling, which has attracted the attention of regulators in some US jurisdictions.
