Circa Sports, the Las Vegas-based sportsbook known for its high-stakes betting and largest sportsbook, has broken previous records for the number of entries in two popular NFL prediction contests, Circa Millions and Circa Survivor.
On the final day of registration last week, both contests had raised a combined $20,266,000, thanks to a record 20,083 entries.
When Circa first announced the 2024 contests, the company promised a record $16 million in guaranteed payouts — $6 million for Circa Millions and $10 million for Circa Survivor. However, by the time registration closed on September 7, Circa Millions had attracted 5,817 entries, falling $183,000 short of its stated prize pool.
Circa used money from last season to make up for the shortfall and increase its prize pool. With 14,266 entries, Circa Survivor increased its prize pool by over $4 million, bringing it to $14,266,000.
Circa Survivor saw a 53.9% increase in entries from the previous year, when 9,267 people entered.
With approximately 1,000 people entering in the final six days of registration, the company was averaging $1 million per day, a new record for Circa NFL contests.
Circa Survivor: Rules and Features
Circa Survivor is one of the most well-known NFL prediction contests in the United States. Competitors will have to complete up to 20 rounds, one for each week of the football season, including two special rounds. The last one standing will have a $10 million prize.
Each week, players must pick the winner of one NFL game and make their picks via Circa Sports kiosks in Nevada or via the mobile app. However, they cannot pick the same team twice during the season.
Special weeks will include Thanksgiving/Black Friday and Christmas, making it more challenging since there are multiple games on those days.
Last year, the top prize of $9,267,000 was split between four winners.
Circa Million: The Tipster Challenge
Circa Million challenges participants to test their NFL picking skills against the spread. The first place prize is $1 million, with 125 additional prizes available throughout the season.
The total prize pool for places two through 100 is $3.65 million. Additionally, $300,000 in prizes will be up for grabs every Thursday, fourth, and fifth week.
The Circa Million VI competition also includes $100,000 for last place and $50,000 for second to last. There are no hidden fees in this competition, so all additional buy-ins go into the prize pools.
Each week, participants must place five bets against the spread via the Circa Sports app or at one of six betting shops. Each correct pick is worth one point, while a tie is worth half a point.
