The leading online poker operator formerly known as Americas Cardroom, ACR Poker, has announced strict new rules that prohibit the use of virtual machines while restricting the use of live screen sharing tools. On Thursday, the operator confirmed that the new rules are part of a new security update aimed at combating the unfair advantage that a small number of players had when using such tools.

Back in July, ACR Poker issued a warning against players who were found to be using virtual machines and/or remote viewing software. At the time, the leading online poker operator warned that the use of such software and devices would be banned from August 3, 2023.

ACR Poker has now confirmed that the change has already been implemented and its Terms and Conditions have been updated with text that includes restrictions on the use of live screen sharing tools and virtual machines. Not surprisingly, players caught violating these rules will be subject to penalties, explains the online poker operator. The first violation of the rules will result in one warning, and subsequent violations may result in account suspension, permanent suspension, or even forfeiture of funds.

But what exactly does the ban mean? The new security update prohibits players from using remote viewing programs such as Team Viewer, as well as "any physical or virtual environments or devices that help circumvent ACR Poker's new security measures." On the other hand, the ban on the use of virtual machines means that access to the poker operator's software and its launch is possible only directly "from the native hard drive".

Fraudsters are getting more sophisticated
Chris Moneymaker, ACR Poker Pro, explained that the "high-tech game of Hit the Mole" is frustrating to play, but stressed the need to stay ahead of players who are trying to use tools to gain an unfair advantage. He added: “I have been playing online poker for over 20 years and as the scammers become more sophisticated, the poker rooms are becoming more sophisticated. ACR invests heavily in technology and people to ensure that the game is as fair as any of the major sites."

The latest security update is part of ACR Poker's larger effort to provide fair and fun entertainment for its players. The operator works tirelessly to identify potential fraudsters and intruders, while improving its policies and reducing vulnerabilities.

In fact, ACR Poker uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to detect suspicious activity and intruders. As a leading online poker operator, it currently employs integrity and security professionals who ensure the integrity of the game and analyze suspicious reports submitted by players. Ultimately, all these efforts are aimed at making ACR Poker a safe and secure online poker platform that offers the best gaming experience.
