The robots have already begun patrolling a Louisiana casino and the San Antonio International Airport in Texas.

Knightscope has an ambitious goal of making the United States the safest country in the world, and these new additions further demonstrate their commitment to bringing automated security to high-traffic areas.

Louisiana Casino Is the Tenth K5

A Louisiana casino is the tenth location in the country to deploy the K5, an autonomous robot that can operate 24 hours a day and recharge itself without human intervention. The deployment of the robot was made possible by an agreement between Knightscope and a major entertainment company that operates properties across the country. The 2023 deal will see the deployment of security technology at 43 properties, including casinos, sports complexes, and entertainment venues.

K5 robots are already successfully deployed in shopping malls, hospitals, warehouses and offices. They patrol at a maximum speed of 3 mph and have accumulated over 2.5 million hours of commercial service. Importantly, these robots serve as “extra eyes and ears” for security teams, providing important data in real time.

Boosting Security at San Antonio Airport

At San Antonio International Airport, the K5 robot acts as an “enhanced physical deterrent.” It patrols restricted areas and assists with tasks such as handling alarms. The robot allows staff to focus on more important tasks such as assisting passengers and operational airport management.

Airport Director Jesus Saenz noted that the robot will be an important addition to the security team and will operate in restricted areas, away from the public.

These new deployments highlight Knightscope’s growing role in public safety. The company continues to develop its technology, offering not only K5 robots, but also other solutions such as emergency communication systems and automatic gunshot detection.

Technology at the Service of Casinos

Every year, more and more casinos are introducing robots to ensure security. For example, the Margaritaville Resort and Boomtown Casino in Bossier City already use robots with cameras that provide 360-degree views and 24/7 recording.

This spring, a robot was spotted at a Las Vegas casino, where it chased an intruder in the parking lot. And in 2009, the M Resorts casino introduced the M-Bot robot, equipped with sensors and cameras, allowing staff to monitor the territory in real time.

With increasing threats, from bomb threats to public order incidents, such technologies are becoming an integral part of modern casinos, helping to maintain security in these difficult conditions.
