Back in 2021, then-29-year-old Vicente Luque was discussed as one of the potential contenders for the UFC welterweight title. At the end of the year, he was 21-7-1 with four consecutive UFC victories, all of which came at a distance. For three of these victories, The Silent Assassin won the Performance of the Night award.
But now 2022 has arrived. In April, Luque took on Belal Muhammad in a sort of elimination bout for the title. The Brazilian landed more punches than Remember the Name, but he was knocked out five times by the Chicago wrestling expert. Each time he managed to slip out and get back on his feet, but that wasn't enough - he lost the fight by unanimous decision.
Then, less than three months later, Luque agreed to fight the agile Jeff Neal, which turned out to be a mistake. Neil showed the world why he was nicknamed "Pen of Steel". He knocked out Luke in the third round. However, thanks to Luka for fighting for so long. He got so many blows to the head in that fight, but he didn't want to give up until his body just passed out.
