North Sioux City police arrested a 29-year-old man after his failed attempt to rob a VIP gaming room. The suspect was reportedly booked into the Woodbury County Jail on Sunday.

Attempted Casino Robbery

Police Chief Richard Hedid said his department received a report of a masked man attempting to steal money from a VIP gaming room in North Sioux City. The robbery failed and the man left without taking anything, Hedid said.

Police said the suspect was unarmed. He was arrested shortly after the incident and his initials were revealed to be R.M. He now faces attempted robbery charges.

Additional Robberies

However, this was not R.M.’s only attempted robbery. Police believe he was also involved in a robbery at a gas station in Sergent Bluff, Iowa. This incident occurred shortly after an attempted robbery at a VIP arcade, where the suspect entered the gas station and threatened the cashier.

The suspect pretended to have a firearm and demanded money from the cashier. After receiving the cash, he fled the scene.

A Sergent Bluff police officer was dispatched to the gas station but was unable to locate the robber. However, surveillance footage was able to identify R.M.’s vehicle.

After a description of the vehicle was forwarded to the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office, authorities quickly identified it and located it.

Car Theft

The vehicle turned out to belong to a business in Sergent Bluff that had been reported stolen. Police say the suspect was likely an employee of the business and was not authorized to operate the vehicle, which police say he stole on Sept. 20.

R.M. is also facing charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree burglary as a result. He is currently being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $30,000 bail.
