BetMGM has signed a new market access agreement with Revolutionary Racing Kentucky (RRKY) that will allow BetMGM to launch a retail sportsbook at Sandy's Racing & Gaming once sports betting is legalized in the state.

BetMGM's 5,200-square-foot bookmaker, valued at $75 million, is expected to launch at RRKY this fall, with a tentative date for retail sports betting in Kentucky set for September 7, 2023.

Regulators have also announced that online sports betting will follow shortly thereafter, with operators expected to launch online sportsbooks on September 28.

Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM, said: “Kentucky has a rich history of sports and passionate fans.

“Revolutionary Racing is the perfect partner to enable us to create exciting and responsible games while investing in the government through job creation and tax revenue.”

Along with the sports bookmaker, the Kentucky racetrack and riding center will be located on 182 acres and in close proximity to Sandy's Racing & Gaming.

The first races here are expected to open to the public by 2025.

Prentice Salter, CEO of Revolutionary Racing said: “We promised to provide a world class facility in Ashland and wanted a world class partner for online sports betting across the Commonwealth and in our sports betting shop.

"We have it with BetMGM."

BetMGM isn't the only major operator to sign Kentucky-based companies ahead of its sports betting launch: Caesars Sportsbook has partnered with Keeneland and Red Mile.
