Paul Gauselmann, who has dedicated almost his entire life to the company, is handing over his responsibilities to other members of the Management Board and will be replaced by Group CFO Lars Felderhof. Joining him on the Management Board will be Vice Chairmen Jürgen Stühmeier and Manfred Stoffers, who will each be responsible for Sales and Marketing, respectively.

Lars Felderhof has been managing the company's finances for the past six years, having previously worked at GTech (now IGT) and Merkur subsidiary Metro Cash & Carry International. In his early years at Merkur Group, he was responsible for commercial activities as Chief Commercial Officer in the ADP business unit.

In addition, Paul Gauselmann’s son Michael will take over his father’s position as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Merkur Group and the family. “The time has come to entrust my life to the younger generation,” Paul Gauselmann said in a statement on his resignation.

He added: “I have always dedicated my efforts to the well-being of the company and the well-being of our approximately 15,000 employees.”

Michael Gauselmann, who has been with Merkur Group since 1982 as a graduate in business administration, distinguished himself at the company by establishing the subsidiary Atronic in 1993 and overseeing all international operations. He served as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for ten years and shared responsibilities with Paul Gauselmann as Co-Chairman from 2004 to 2012.

Since 2013, Michael has been actively involved in the Gauselmann Family Council and since 2016 in the Gauselmann Family Foundation, which has been supporting social and cultural projects in the family’s home region of Minden-Lübeck in Germany since 1999.

“I am delighted that my son Michael is taking on this important responsibility and will bring his international experience to our company,” said Paul Gauselmann. He added: “It has been my dream for some time to establish a company for my 90th birthday. We have achieved this successfully and are in an ideal position for the future.”
