The Incident and the Trial
The case concerns famous American rapper Quavius "Quavo" Marshall, who visited the Encore Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in 2018. During his visit, he received a warning from the Las Vegas police after he punched a valet at the popular establishment.
The valet, whose initials are A.H., claimed that the incident left him with both physical and emotional harm. As a result, he sued Quavo. The trial lasted several weeks and concluded this week.
As reported by KLAS, a jury ruled that the rapper must pay the former parking attendant close to $700,000 for the 2018 hit. Quavo's defense insisted that A.H. did not suffer any injuries from his actions.
Quavo's attorney also claimed that the former parking attendant was trying to get a "hip-hop lottery ticket," meaning that he was hoping for a large settlement from the incident.
However, the jury disagreed with the defense's position. Quavo was ultimately ordered to pay the victim $682,000 in restitution and fines.
Quavo's Music Career
Quavo is not only a rapper, but also a renowned songwriter, producer, and music video director. As of 2024, his net worth is estimated at $28 million.
He rose to fame as a member of the hip-hop trio Migos, which also included Offset and Takeoff. The trio released several albums and earned $25 million between 2017 and 2018.
Tragically, one of the members of Migos, Takeoff, was shot and killed in Texas in 2022. He was at a bowling alley with Offset and Quavo at the time and was reportedly playing a dice game. While Quavo was unharmed during the incident, Takeoff was fatally shot.
