Ahead of the world's biggest women's sporting event this weekend, global sports betting, gaming and interactive entertainment group Entain has released new data highlighting the rise in women's betting on the Women's World Cup. In a recent report, the company revealed key details regarding the performance and interest of the event in different markets around the world.

Starting with the sports book Entain in the UK, the company has reported an increase in the number of women betting on women's professional sports. Data from Ladbrokes and Coral shows that the first three games in England generated significant interest from women, given that they were betting 21% of the time. This result marked an increase from the 17% of bets placed by women on the Women's Euro in 2022 and 13% on the World Cup in 2019.

It is noteworthy that growth was also observed in the United States. The good performance of the US women's team has undoubtedly contributed to the rise in betting popularity, which has led to an increase in betting on women's football. Based on a recent report by Entain, the US women's team's game against Vietnam saw BetMGM bet three times over Lionel Messi's Inter Miami CF debut.

Similar strong engagement and retention was seen in New Zealand. Entain's country partner, TAB New Zealand, reported a 365% increase in the number of bets placed on the Women's World Cup. In neighboring Australia, the number of bets also increased by almost 200%. According to TAB New Zealand, about 15% of bets on the Women's World Cup this year have been made by women. This result marked another increase from the 9% recorded in 2019.

The popularity of women's sports continues to grow
Dominic Grownsell, commercial director of Entain, was delighted with the new results. He said the numbers show a significant increase in interest in the Women's World Cup, confirming that the audience for women's sports is growing. “More of our customers are finding new ways to support their favorite teams, thanks to the bet,” Graunsell added.

" As this Women's World Cup proves, the interest from the fans is there, which is paving the way for women's sport to gain a wider audience, more media attention and more opportunities for aspiring female athletes around the world to play sports professionally. “ Dominik Growsel, commercial director of Entain

In addition to recent results, a recent study co-funded by Entain and conducted by IBIA found that football continues to attract more players, and this applies to women's sports as well. According to the study, since 2020, the number of bets on women's football has increased by about 20%.
