This will be the first meeting between the US team and independent Montenegro. We say "independent" because that country was part of Yugoslavia, which, despite not having existed for over 20 years, still ranks first in the number of FIBA World Cup wins (along with the United States).
Montenegro has done little in basketball since independence. However, in 2023 this team looks very good. But are these guys good enough to upset Team USA?

Is Team USA the 2023 FIBA World Cup Dream Team? The US basketball team has been 3-0 since the start of the 2023 FIBA World Cup, winning every game by at least 27 points. But, in fairness, American football players have not yet played against such a strong team as Montenegro.
You might think that Greece is a good team, but Giannis Antetokounmpo will not take part in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. His brother Thanasis has traveled to the Philippines, but so far he has not achieved good results. However, defeating the Greeks is not really a big achievement.
Of course, that doesn't mean that Team USA players aren't impressive. As you'd expect from NBA stars like Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Brandon Ingram (New Orleans Pelicans) and Mikal Bridges (Brooklyn Nets), they're doing pretty well. However, they should be concerned that there are a couple of NBA stars in Montenegro.
Montenegro is preparing large-scale riotsMontenegro leads 2-1 at the 2023 FIBA World Championship with wins over Mexico and Egypt and a loss to Lithuania. It was a heavy loss of 20 points, but a couple of Montenegrins showed a great game that day.
Among them are two Chicago Bulls centers, Nikola Vucevic and Marko Simonovic. In that game they were great both offensively and defensively and we can only assume that they will continue to play well. What about their teammates? Can they do anything against mighty America?
Well, the Montenegrin basketball team does have a couple of promising players from European clubs. Unicaja's Kendrick Perry is one of them, along with Basket Zaragoza's Dino Radoncic and Murcia's Nemanja Radovic.
US forecast vs MontenegroObviously, if Team USA hadn't won this game, it would have been one of the biggest disappointments in American basketball history. There are gambling sites where the US price is -10,000 and some don't even offer US odds because they are so sure this team will win on September 1st.
We can only agree, but we don't think it will be another big win. On the contrary, we think Montenegro will give the Americans trouble on the court on Friday. However, we see the victory of the US team only with a difference of 15-20 points, but no more. And the bookmakers set the spread at 26.5 points!
