In a significant development, the Colorado Division of Gaming (DofG) has unveiled an official self-exclusion program for the sports betting industry. This initiative comes as part of Responsible Gambling Education Month and aims to assist bettors who may be struggling with their gambling habits.

Previously, Colorado had a self-exclusion program managed by the Problem Gambling Coalition of Colorado. However, the responsibility has now shifted to the DofG. Christopher Schroder, Director of the Colorado DofG, expressed the division's dedication to promoting responsible gaming in the state and described the launch of the self-exclusion program as a remarkable step forward.

Under this program, players can voluntarily exclude themselves from betting for one year, three years, or five years. The transition from the PGCC to the DOG's oversight of the self-exclusion program was mandated by Limited Gaming Rule 29 and Sports Betting Rule 9, both of which established rigorous responsible gaming requirements.

Licensed operators have been informed of the self-exclusion list to ensure that those who have voluntarily excluded themselves cannot place bets on their platforms in Colorado. Moreover, the Division of Gaming has outlined its plans to create an efficient, technology-driven website over the next year to streamline the signup and dissemination process, further contributing to the prevention of problem gambling.
