In a groundbreaking move, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has unveiled a strategic partnership with the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP). This significant collaboration marks a pivotal step in PAGCOR's ongoing efforts to privatize casinos within the country.
The primary objective of this partnership is to enlist the support of the DAP in addressing compliance-related issues pertaining to the Governance Commission for Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), commonly known as GCG. Specifically, the DAP will play a crucial role in implementing the Compensation and Position Classification System (CPCS), a critical prerequisite for the privatization of casinos in the Philippines.
In a recent official statement, PAGCOR revealed its ambitious plan to privatize a total of 45 casinos by the year 2025, as a part of this comprehensive initiative. Alejandro Tengco, Chairman and CEO of PAGCOR, expressed gratitude towards the Development Academy of the Philippines, acknowledging their significant role in enhancing competency within the government.
"We are immensely thankful to the Development Academy of the Philippines for being a driving force behind the development of government competencies," stated Tengco. "We require their invaluable assistance to meet the documentary requirements set by the GCG, and to finally roll out the long-awaited CPCS for our dedicated employees."
Notably, the recent milestone in this collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between Tengco and Engelbert Caronan Jr., the President and CEO of DAP. The event took place at the prestigious New Coast Hotel in Manila, signifying the commitment of both organizations to PAGCOR's reorganization.
As an integral part of the Philippine Government, the Development Academy of the Philippines operates in alignment with official policies, programs, and organizational structures. Caronan Jr. expressed the DAP's readiness to provide essential technical services required to ensure GCG compliance and to support PAGCOR in its reorganization endeavors.
Just yesterday, PAGCOR released a statement confirming its shift towards a purely regulatory role, underlining the corporation's dynamic evolution in the gaming industry.
