In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, Play'n Go, a major supplier, has officially joined The Climate Pledge, an initiative aiming to achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2040. This initiative, co-founded in 2019 by Global Optimism and Amazon, has garnered support from a whopping 433 companies hailing from 38 different countries.
By becoming a signatory to The Climate Pledge, Play'n Go has committed to a trio of key principles. First and foremost, they will consistently measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions. Second, they will put in place decarbonization strategies in alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Lastly, they will actively seek to offset any remaining emissions, demonstrating a robust commitment to reducing their environmental impact.
Vanessa Arenram, the Director of CSR at Play'n Go, expressed the company's enthusiasm for this endeavor, stating, "Sustainability is of paramount importance to all of us here at Play'n Go, and we're thrilled to embrace The Climate Pledge. We all share the responsibility of reducing our carbon footprint to ensure a promising future for generations to come. This ambitious commitment will see us reach net-zero emissions within the next 20 years. Today, we eagerly make this pledge and look forward to our global team uniting to turn these goals into a reality."
The Climate Pledge sets an ambitious target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, a full decade ahead of the Paris Agreement's 2050 goal. However, Play'n Go has set an even more ambitious target, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
Play'n Go is set to join a distinguished group of pledge signatories, including industry giants such as Amazon, Verizon, Mercedes-Benz, Siemens, and Uber.
In additional corporate news, Play'n Go also announced a strategic partnership with the Växjö Lakers, reaffirming their decade-long support for the ice hockey team.
