Thomas Winter, CEO of DraftKings North America, announced his departure from the company, citing a need to devote more personal time.

Having founded Golden Nugget Online Gaming (GNOG), which is now owned by DraftKings, Winter enjoyed many good years as a key player in the gambling industry. However, after leading GNOG for ten years, Winter believes it is time to step down.

In a post on LinkedIn, the outgoing general manager explained the reason for his departure. He said:

Ten years after founding Golden Nugget Online Gaming, three years after it went public, and two years after its acquisition by the almighty DraftKings, it's time for me to close this unusual chapter of my life and open a new one, this time dedicated to the final part of work balance and personal life. Reflecting on his time in the gambling industry, Winter said he was very proud of leading GNOG from last place to the number 1 online casino in New Jersey. His accomplishments also include opening the first live dealer studio in America and being named Casino Operator of the Year by GNOG for 4 years in a row.

Winter is also pleased that he took GNOG public, allowing it to be acquired by the "almighty DraftKings."

Winter met a lot of amazing people in the industry
Winter said GNOG's accomplishments come second only to the incredible time he spent with the passionate people in the casino industry. He tagged some of his best gambling friends and thanked them for their incredible support.

Winter admitted he'll probably "miss the action." Despite this, he is confident that DraftKings and GNOG are in good hands and will continue to deliver results.

While I will miss the event, I can't wait to see what the amazing team at DK/GNOG Casino, led by the uber-talented Gregory Karamitis and superstar Signe Jama, will do to stay on top of the US iGaming world for years to come. I'll be rooting for you all. Thomas Winter, outgoing CEO of DraftKings

Winter founded GNOG in 2013. The company became a leading gaming operator in New Jersey in 2018 and went public two years later. A year after going public on Nasdaq, GNOG was acquired by DraftKings in a landmark deal valued at $1.5 billion.
