Altostratus Limited, a firm headquartered in the Isle of Man, has submitted a proposal to develop a new casino in the capital of the British Crown Dependency. The project will see the development of a new property on the Middlemarch site in Douglas.

The Altostratus project would transform the site into a six-story casino building with a gaming floor, bingo hall, sports bar and several offices. The company's project will also build 25 apartments, and the roof will be turned into a garden for residents.

The company has also planned several parking spaces around the building, which will allow casino visitors, office workers and residents to park their cars comfortably.

For reference, the Middlemarch site in Douglas is located between Fort Street, Lord Street, Walpole Avenue and Victoria Street. The site is owned by the Isle of Man Government and is currently used as a car park.

Casino to boost Douglas' appeal
If the project is approved, the Palace Hotel & Casino, currently located on Douglas Quay, will be moved to the new site.

The casino itself will be located on the ground floor. In addition to this, the Altostratus project will also include a sports bar and bingo hall, which will attract a variety of players.

There will be several offices on the upper floors, increasing the commercial value of the building.

According to Altostratus' plans, the casino entrance and planned office space will be on Victoria Street.

As mentioned, the building will also have 25 apartments on the top three levels of the building. The entrance to the residential part of the complex will be from Lord Street.

Supporters of the new facility believe it could become a central hub for festivals, horse racing and holiday markets. Some even suggested that during the winter holidays a skating rink could be installed next to the hotel.

Overall, the project has the potential to enhance the attractiveness and sustainability of Douglas and, through office space, will create opportunities for local businesses, boosting the economy.
