Spelinspektionen's International Outreach
In an effort to foster stronger ties with international regulatory bodies, the Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen, embarked on a visit to the United Kingdom. The delegation from Spelinspektionen included key figures such as Fredrik Lindquist, AML Compliance Officer; Patrik Gustavsson, Head of Operations; Samuel Wahlberg and Daniel Bergman, both Investigators.

Collaboration with Sportradar
Their first stop was Sportradar, a London-based sports data and technology company that had previously partnered with Spelinspektionen in March 2022. Sportradar plays a pivotal role in collecting and analyzing data for Spelinspektionen, as well as monitoring sports events within Sweden to detect any signs of suspicious match-fixing activities.

Sharing Experiences with the Gambling Commission
Subsequently, the Spelinspektionen delegation visited the UK Gambling Commission in Birmingham, with the primary objective of exchanging experiences related to the regulation of gambling and the combatting of unethical sports betting practices.

International Efforts Against Illegal Gambling
During their visit, Patrik Gustavsson emphasized the importance of sharing experiences with authorities from other countries, underscoring that it is a vital component in establishing a healthy and secure gambling market. The discussions involved insights into how each respective organization deals with illegal gambling and the potential benefits of establishing more accessible communication channels for international collaborative efforts against such activities.

Updates from the Gambling Commission
The Gambling Commission also provided valuable insights into the ongoing changes being implemented through the White Paper. This publication outlines the authority's plans to make the gambling landscape safer, fairer, and free from criminal activities.

A Global Collaborative Vision
A spokesperson for the Gambling Commission expressed their pleasure in welcoming the Spelinspektionen to their Birmingham office, emphasizing the importance of collaboration on a global scale. The shared vision is to create a safer and more equitable gambling environment, free from criminal elements.

This visit aligns with the recent statement made by Tim Miller, Executive Director of the Gambling Commission, who emphasized the authority's commitment to working closely with international organizations to promote a global approach to gambling regulation.
