Per Widerström officially takes over as CEO of 888 Holdings later this year.

Per Wiederström, a former non-executive director of Catena Media, has started work as the new CEO of 888 Holdings. The appointment, announced earlier this year, will see the appointee move to London to lead the prestigious gambling company.

Widerström has approximately 17 years of experience in the online casino industry and served as CEO of Fortuna Entertainment Group for eight years. The new CEO joined the gambling industry in 2006 and has since worked for various companies in various positions. His appointment as CEO of 888 comes at a time of transformation for the company.

When Widerstrom takes office, Jonathan Mendelsohn, who has served as the company's interim CEO, will return to his role as non-executive chairman. Mendelson will also have a new position on the company's nominating committee.

As 888's new CEO, Widerstrom will earn an annual salary of nearly $823,000.

Widerstrom commented on his new position in a LinkedIn post, sharing his excitement about the new position. He said the job was an “exciting new chapter” in his career and added that he was thrilled to be moving to London to take over the company.

He called 888 an “iconic company,” saying the opportunity to lead it was a “huge honor.” Widerström is looking forward to taking on the responsibility of leading the iconic 888, William Hill and Mr Green brands and working with their teams.

Widerström added that he is very optimistic about the future of the company and promised to devote all his efforts to developing its business. He noted that he had to leave a number of prestigious positions in order to be able to focus all his efforts on 888.
