Monica Shafaq, the former chief executive of The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, is set to take on the role of CEO at Gordon Moody, a renowned organization dedicated to supporting those affected by gambling harm. With her appointment scheduled to begin in January 2024, Shafaq brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to making a positive impact in the field of mental health and gambling harm support.

Shafaq's impressive 13-year tenure at The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, which commenced in 2010, saw her lead the organization through a transformative rebrand from Sandwell Mind. During her time there, she and her team worked tirelessly to champion mental health equality and make significant strides in the field.

In addition to her new role at Gordon Moody, Monica Shafaq also serves as a trustee of the Professional Footballers' Association charity and holds a position as a non-executive director at the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. Her extensive experience in the charity sector and her commitment to social change make her an ideal candidate to lead Gordon Moody.

Monica Shafaq succeeds interim CEO Matthew Hickey, who will continue to support Gordon Moody's leadership team until the end of 2023. Under Hickey's leadership, the organization expanded its treatment capacity, increasing from 120 to 270 individuals per year. He was also instrumental in the establishment of Gordon Moody's women-only residential treatment center in 2021.
