In a move that underscores its commitment to responsible gaming and customer safety, Kindred Group has become the latest addition to Sweden's National Gaming Industry Association (Sper). The company joins other prominent Swedish gambling operators like ATG, Bethard, Betsson, Svenska Spekl, and Paf in supporting Sper's mission.
Nils Andén, interim President and CEO of Kindred Group, expressed the company's dedication to collaborating with industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies to create a healthy and secure gaming environment. "Kindred wants to be part of the work together with the industry, regulatory authorities, and other actors to create a healthy and safe gaming market," he stated. "It is important to be a locally anchored and present operator. By connecting to Sper, we get the opportunity to further develop the work we have already started. We look forward to being involved and taking joint responsibility for the development of the gaming industry in Sweden."
Sper's CEO, Maria Wennerberg Sedigh, welcomed Kindred Group's membership, emphasizing the seriousness with which the gaming industry approaches sustainability and player safety. She stated, "We are positive Kindred joins Sper and wants to be involved and take joint responsibility for the development in the gaming industry. The fact that Kindred joins Sper shows that the issue of a sustainable and healthy gaming industry is taken very seriously."
Kindred Group's membership in Sper aligns with the company's broader commitment to responsible gambling and ensuring the protection of its customers from harm. The company has highlighted its "journey towards zero," which aims to achieve 0% of revenue from problem gambling.
In the second quarter, Kindred reported a share of revenue from problem gambling at 3.1%, down 0.2% compared to the first quarter. This improvement resulted from increased interventions during the second quarter, reaching 86.4%, up from 83.0% in Q1.
In Sweden, Kindred and two other leading operators, Svenska Spel and ATG, have been consistently publishing figures related to responsible gambling. In its latest responsible gambling report for the six months ending in June 2023, Kindred stated that 0.5% of Swedish customers were contacted regarding potentially harmful gambling behaviors.
