A startling incident unfolded at the iconic Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. A 27-year-old woman, known as H.M., who had been on a date with an older gentleman, found herself in hot water after she allegedly pilfered approximately $60,000 from the gentleman's hotel room safe. The local authorities took swift action, leading to her arrest near her residence on West Sahara Avenue earlier this week.
Law enforcement, armed with a search warrant, discovered a stash of Caesars casino chips amounting to $5,200 at her home. Furthermore, they seized $11,700 in cash, which was collected as evidence in the case. The charges against the young woman include burglary and grand larceny, with the stolen amount falling between $25,000 and $100,000.
The suspect is slated to make her court appearance next month, on November 22, 2023. The potential penalties for these alleged crimes are yet to be determined, but it's worth noting that grand larceny of this magnitude carries serious consequences, including a prison sentence of one to ten years and a fine of up to $10,000.
A Night Out Takes a Dark Turn
According to the police report, the 27-year-old woman had arranged to meet a man 30 years her senior through the online dating platform "Seeking Arrangement." Their date involved a two-day stay at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, with the older man agreeing to pay her $2,500 for her companionship.
On the first day of their rendezvous, the man paid her the agreed fee, and he entrusted her to store her purse in the hotel room safe, which held not only her belongings but also a significant sum of money and casino chips, totaling $7,000 in chips and $50,000 in cash. The combination to the safe was provided to her verbally.
Their outing took an unexpected twist when they attended a U2 concert at the Sphere. During the event, the young woman excused herself to use the restroom but failed to return promptly. After sending her a text message to inquire about her well-being and receiving no response, the man grew concerned. Thirty minutes later, realizing she hadn't returned, he asked Caesars Palace to block access to his room. Upon returning to his room later, he was met with the startling discovery that his possessions had vanished from the safe.
