Sisal, one of Italy's leading gaming and lottery operators, is excited to introduce Sian Carson as their new Chief People Officer. In her new role, Carson will head the human resources and organizational design division, supporting Sisal's expansion endeavors in Italy and beyond.
Sisal CEO Francesco Durante expressed his delight at Carson's appointment, stating, "I am convinced that with her support we will further strengthen our ability to drive Sisal's growth in Italy and abroad, investing in the centrality of people and skills that are fundamental for an increasingly sustainable, digital, and international company."
Before joining Sisal, Sian Carson gained valuable experience in the HR sector, spending three years working at the Flutter group level, including her role as Talent Director at Flutter International.
Carson's previous role as Chief People Officer for group functions at Flutter involved defining the group's talent development strategy and fostering an inclusive corporate culture, aligning with the company's objectives. Her journey in the field of HR began in 2015 with Australian betting brand Sportsbet and later led her to Paddy Power in July 2019. In total, Carson has dedicated eight years to Flutter and its predecessor organizations.
Sian Carson expressed her pride in accepting the new role, saying, "I am delighted to enthusiastically welcome this new professional challenge in a group that employs more than 3,000 people in five different countries and with an ambition of continuous growth in the near future, strong in its strategy that has always put people at the center."
In December 2021, Flutter made headlines by announcing its acquisition of Sisal from CVC Capital Partners Fund VI for €1.91 billion (£1.67 billion/$2.03 billion). This merger was successfully finalized in August 2022.
The acquisition was a strategic move to strengthen Flutter's presence in regulated markets globally. Sisal, known for operating the Italian national lottery and holding leading positions in various gaming verticals, played a significant role in this development. Flutter, counting brands like Betfair and PokerStars, successfully captured around 20% of the market share.
