During September, a significant portion of the sports betting action took place online, accounting for $59.2 million of all sports betting expenditures for the month. Retail betting, on the other hand, contributed $7.7 million to the total. Notably, the exclusive rights for online sports betting in New Hampshire belong to DraftKings, having secured them in November 2019.
Revenue Overview
The revenue trend in September mirrored the handle pattern. The gross gaming revenue for the month stood at $6.2 million, showing a 16.2% decline from September 2023 when it was $7.4 million. However, this figure was a robust 87.9% increase from the $3.3 million recorded in August of the same year. Mobile sports betting led the revenue generation with $5.6 million, while retail wagering contributed $609,874.
Taxes and Year-to-Date Performance
The state of New Hampshire collected $2.7 million in taxes from sports betting in September. Of this amount, $2.4 million came from online betting, while $274,060 stemmed from retail activity. Taking a broader look at the year-to-date performance, New Hampshire's sports betting handle in the three months leading to the end of September totaled $142.5 million. This comprised $127.4 million from online betting and $15.1 million from retail wagers. The gross gaming revenue for the same period reached $13.1 million, with online betting accounting for $11.8 million and retail contributing $1.3 million. In terms of taxes, the state collected $5.7 million over these three months. New Hampshire's sports betting market continues to evolve, with online betting playing a significant role in its growth.
