Esports Entertainment Acquires Stake in Drafted.gg, Aims for US Expansion

Esports Entertainment, a major player in the world of esports and online gaming, has announced its acquisition of a minority stake in Drafted.gg. Although specific financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, this partnership is set to strengthen their existing strategic collaboration and revenue-sharing agreement.

Drafted.gg, a well-known producer of live sports broadcasts, operates two content production studios, one in Prague, Czech Republic, and the other in the United Arab Emirates. They provide live streams of various sports like football, basketball, and cricket, reaching audiences across Europe and Asia.

Esports Entertainment's CEO, Alex Igelman, expressed enthusiasm for this investment and collaboration, highlighting the opportunity to integrate high-quality content into their esports and iGaming offerings. He mentioned that this is just the initial step in a more extensive partnership.

Moreover, Igelman revealed the company's plans to potentially acquire the entirety of Drafted.gg's business, contingent upon the content's performance and the successful launch of their first US sportsbook. They believe that the wide array of content offered, including thousands of short-cycle games each month, will resonate with esports enthusiasts in the US.

This acquisition aligns with Esports Entertainment's broader focus on Business-to-Consumer (B2C) operations. The company's CEO pointed out their shift towards expanding B2C initiatives while divesting from certain businesses, such as the sale of Bethard. This strategic move follows their decision to convert debt into company stock earlier this year, alleviating concerns about the company's future and demonstrating their commitment to the esports and iGaming industry.

Igelman also emphasized their commitment to maintaining the highest gaming integrity standards and audit processes, ensuring compliance with rigorous regulatory requirements related to skill-based content wagering. The collaboration with Drafted.gg, as well as their partnerships with Delasport sportsbook and Oddin.gg, strengthens the company's position in offering a comprehensive ecosystem for their clients and customers.
