Nevada's Gaming Revenue for September Sees Marginal Growth
Nevada witnessed a slight uptick in gaming revenue in September, surpassing $1.25 billion, a 5.0% increase compared to August's $1.21 billion. Slots continued to be the primary revenue generator, accounting for $814.6 million during the month. However, there was a 5.1% decline in slot revenue compared to the same period last year.
Different Game Categories Show Diverse Trends
Multi-denomination slots emerged as the top choice for players, contributing $473.9 million in revenue, showing a 5.7% increase. Conversely, penny slots experienced a 16.8% decrease, bringing in $249.0 million.
Baccarat Emerges as a Leading Table Game
Table, counter, and card games saw a collective rise of 16.6% in revenue, totaling $456.0 million. Baccarat stood out as the most popular choice among players, registering a significant 85.8% revenue increase, reaching $148.8 million. While blackjack revenue grew by 12.9% to $97.7 million, craps and roulette revenues experienced minor fluctuations. Revenue from craps saw a 12.2% increase to $36.5 million, whereas roulette revenue dipped by 8.9% to $36.9 million.
Sports Betting Faces a Downward Trend
Sports betting revenue, particularly from sports pool wagering, faced an 11.8% decline in September, with total revenue at $62.3 million. The onset of the NFL season led to football taking the lead with $38.7 million in revenue. Baseball betting revenue stood at $16.1 million, while basketball and hockey wagers incurred losses. Parlay cards and other sports contributed $911,000 and $7.2 million, respectively. Notably, mobile betting accounted for $29.0 million of all sports wagering revenue.
Las Vegas Strip Reports Positive Growth
The Las Vegas Strip witnessed a substantial increase in revenue, surpassing $741.2 million, indicating a 6.9% growth compared to the previous year. While slot revenue on the Strip decreased by 6.4% to $383.1 million, table, counter, and card games revenue surged by 26.3% to $358.1 million, primarily fueled by an 87.8% spike in baccarat revenue. Despite a 3.9% decline in strip sports pool revenue, mobile bets accounted for $12.7 million out of the $31.2 million revenue.
