To claim the grand prize, Cochran accurately selected all five white balls with numbers 8, 11, 23, 47, 48, and the Star Ball number 4. The winning ticket was purchased at Speedway #9093 at 6570 Paradise Blvd NW in Albuquerque. Since there were no other jackpot winners from the draw on November 4, Cochran claimed the entire grand prize for himself. He visited the New Mexico Lottery headquarters earlier this week to collect his winnings.

Cochran shared the exciting news with his mother, who initially thought it was a prank. It wasn't until she saw her son holding the oversized check with $3.52 million written on it that she realized the win was genuine.

Before the draw on November 4, Cochran visited Speedway and, upon an employee's suggestion, decided to participate in the lottery. He was attracted to Lotto America due to its favorable odds compared to Mega Millions and Powerball, coupled with its affordable $1 ticket cost. Cochran didn't leave his fate to chance; he selected the numbers himself, using the same set for Mega Millions and Powerball tickets.
