Timor-Leste, a small island nation neighboring Australia and Indonesia, is setting its sights on becoming a major player in the online casino industry. The Virtual Gaming Association (VGA) of Timor-Leste, a trade association representing online gaming, recently engaged with global gaming operators in Malta to discuss policies that would position Timor-Leste as the next global iGaming licensing hub, following in the footsteps of Malta.

To achieve this goal, Timor-Leste aims to implement stringent player protection measures and technological requirements for operators. The objective is to create a reliable and business-friendly jurisdiction that attracts operators from around the world. The VGA is optimistic about the potential for job creation, particularly in call and data centers, given the predominantly young population on the island.

Looking ahead, the VGA envisions the development of luxurious casino resorts in the future.
