British Horseracing Authority Launches Fourth Trainer and Stable Staff Survey

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has revealed the initiation of its fourth trainer and stable staff survey. The primary goal is to pinpoint on-site issues and aid the Industry People Board in devising effective strategies to address them.

Commissioned by the Industry People Board, the survey is a collaborative effort involving the BHA, the National Trainers Federation (NTF), and the National Association of Racing Staff (NARS). Public Perspectives, an independent research organization, will distribute the survey to trainers and staff across Britain in the coming days.

This survey not only emphasizes critical issues but also measures the progress of significant initiatives funded by the Racing Foundation. These initiatives focus on supporting stable staff recruitment, enhancing workforce skills, and promoting staff retention. Since 2016, the Racing Foundation has invested over £12 million (approximately $15 million) to address staffing challenges.

The survey, the fourth of its kind following previous editions in 2016, 2018, and 2021, will run from November to early January. It is aligned with the Racing Foundation's commitment to enhancing staff-related matters within the industry.

Tansy Challis, CEO of the Racing Foundation, expressed her team's support for the survey. Referencing the 2016 survey, she highlighted its role in establishing a baseline for progress measurement and issue identification. Challis anticipates that this year's data will assist the Industry People Board in refining its strategy.

Neil Hayward, Chairman of the Industry People Board, shared his ambition for securing a reliable workforce and an industry-worthy working environment. He emphasized the importance of the survey in making informed decisions and evaluating the impact of ongoing and future initiatives.

Challis encouraged all trainers and stable staff to actively participate in the survey, expressing optimism that their responses would contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the industry's workforce dynamics.
