BCLC Introduces Flexible Holiday Program to Boost Inclusivity

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has announced a pioneering initiative that empowers its employees to choose their holidays, promoting inclusivity and recognizing individual values. This program, aligned with British Columbia's multiculturalism week, allows workers to substitute up to six holidays for days significant to them culturally, personally, or religiously.

In addition to the flexible holiday policy, the BCLC emphasizes its commitment to creating a safe, equitable, and barrier-free environment. The company is guided by dedicated employee resource groups, striving to ensure its workforce feels appreciated and welcomed.

While employees have the liberty to substitute holidays, the BCLC highlights an exception for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day, commemorating the legacy of the Canadian Indian residential school system, aligns with the company's values and is mandated for observance by all employees.

Sandy Austin, the BCLC's Chief People Officer, applauds the program for recognizing the diverse needs of the workforce. She emphasizes the importance of not adopting a "one size fits all" approach to holidays, demonstrating the company's commitment to inclusivity.
