Ensuring Safer Gambling: KSA Backs Six Initiatives to Tackle Addiction

The KSA, through the Addiction Prevention Fund (VPF), established in 2021 and funded by high-risk gambling operators, is supporting various initiatives. Among them are projects by Amsterdam UMC, Trimbos Institute, and the University of Amsterdam, focusing on evaluating treatments, understanding youth gambling characteristics, developing interventions, and studying the impact of gambling marketing on vulnerable groups.

Aligned with the Netherlands' commitment to combating problem gambling, the ZonMw program, running from 2022 to 2029, emphasizes research into gambling harm prevention and treatment. The recipients are expected to commence their projects by February 2024.
