The Executive Shuffle: A Change in Leadership

The ZEAL Network, a global consortium of lottery companies, is undergoing a notable shift in its executive team. Sönke Martens, the Chief Commercial Officer, has announced his departure from both his executive board position and overall role at the end of February 2024. However, the immediate effect of his exit from the board, effective November 30, leaves the board with only three members—CEO Helmut Becker, CFO Sebastian Bielski, and CTO Paul Dingwitz.

Transitioning Responsibilities: A Seamless Handover

Despite the forthcoming departure, Martens commits to ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities during his remaining time with the company. Having joined as the managing director of eSailors, Martens ascended through the ranks over six and a half years, eventually becoming CCO and head of LOTTO24 and Tipp24 businesses. His tenure included serving as CCO of ZEAL Network and a role on its executive board.

Beyond ZEAL: Martens' Entrepreneurial Pursuits

Expressing regret at Martens' decision to leave, CEO Helmut Becker acknowledged Martens' remarkable contributions and wished him success in his entrepreneurial endeavors outside the company. Martens, after his impactful journey with ZEAL, is set to explore new opportunities beyond the lottery giant.

Gratitude and Recognition: Farewell to a Key Figure

Peter Steiner, the chair of ZEAL's board, extended gratitude to Martens for his commitment to ZEAL Network and its brands, Lotto24 and Tipp24. Steiner emphasized Martens' pivotal role in shaping ZEAL's culture and recognized his contributions to elevating ZEAL into a leading e-commerce entity.

This executive shift marks a significant chapter in ZEAL Network's trajectory, with Martens' departure leaving an indelible mark on the organization's history.
