In a significant move, iGaming Ontario (iGO), a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), has revealed its ambitious plans for a state-of-the-art self-exclusion solution. The primary goal is to simplify the self-exclusion process for players engaging with Ontario-regulated iGaming operators. iGO will soon initiate a request for proposals (RFP) to bring this groundbreaking system to life.

The envisaged system is set to be an innovative, secure, and cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, aligning with existing regulatory standards. Successful integration with all licensed gambling operators, including the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s online platform, is a key requirement. The winning bidder will not only develop the self-exclusion system but will also be entrusted with maintaining it in the years to come.

The RFP, scheduled for early 2024, invites interested companies to submit their proposals on MERX. iGO has yet to announce the timeline for revealing the successful bidder.

An Innovative, Secure, and Robust Self-Exclusion System:
This announcement follows a prior hint by iGO's executive director, Martha Otton, indicating the agency's intent to introduce a centralized self-exclusion solution. The revelation precedes the two-year anniversary of the launch of Ontario's regulated gambling market.

iGO emphasizes that the new system must prioritize player support and security, ensuring the responsible handling of player data. Simultaneously, it aims to offer comprehensive information for both players and iGaming operators. Practicality and manageability for licensed operators, along with the implementation of effective player protection policies, are additional prerequisites for this innovative self-exclusion system.
