Cordish Companies Set to Transform Louisiana Landscape with $270 Million Casino Resort

The Cordish Companies are making headlines as they prepare to embark on a $270 million venture, bringing a new chapter to the Louisiana gaming scene. The Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana is set to replace the former DiamondJacks Casino Resort in Bossier City.

In a strategic move, The Cordish Companies acquired the DiamondJacks property earlier this year, obtaining not only the physical space but also the crucial gambling license needed to operate. This marks the company's entrance into Louisiana, making it the third commercial gaming state for the renowned developers.

Originally a riverboat casino, DiamondJacks faced challenges, including the impact of hurricanes and storms. The state's decision to allow riverboat casinos to transition to land was a game-changer, but the pandemic led to the resort's closure. Now, Cordish aims to transform it into a cutting-edge land-based casino and resort.

The refurbished Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana is not just about gaming; it's also a significant economic driver. The project is expected to generate over $35 million in gaming taxes for the city and more than $168 million for the state within the first five years of operation. Additionally, it will create approximately 750 new jobs and offer contract opportunities to local businesses.

The groundbreaking ceremony on December 13 will witness the active involvement of Cordish chair David Cordish and Cordish's Gaming Group and Live! Casinos president Rob Norton. Their presence signifies the company's commitment to the success of this transformative project.

With an anticipated opening in early 2025, Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana is poised to become a major player in the Louisiana gaming landscape, offering a 500-room hotel, multiple restaurants, and a promise of economic growth for the region.
